1. Cottage Poems Synopsis
Cottage Poems is a poetry collection by Patrick Brontë, the father of writers Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë. Patrick Brontë was an Irish Anglican clergyman and author. Born in Northern Ireland, he moved to England to attend college and spent the rest of his adult life there. He outlived his wife and all his children, dying at the age of 84.
His poems depict themes of country life, religion, love, and family. As a socially engaged man, he visited the poor and sick to carry out his religious duties. He also helped Haworth procure a clean water supply. His affinity with the poor is evident in his poems, in which he portrays them affectionately despite their humble circumstances.
